A fish farm in Stavropol region has received a record trout harvest
A breeding plant in the Stavropol Territory has set a record for fish farming. Since the beginning of 2025, 40 tons of rainbow trout of the Kamloops breed have been raised there, the press service of the information policy department of the government and the governor of the region reports.
The farm is located in the village of Nezhinskoye in the Foothill district. This year it celebrated 90 years since its foundation. The farm includes 25 pools where fish of different ages are grown, writes StavropolMedia news agency.
The company specializes not only in commercial trout, but also in the sale of high-quality fertilized caviar. Work is also underway on the cultivation and conservation of sturgeon species of fish, carp and silver carp.
Production is supported within the framework of the regional program "Development of agriculture". This allows the farm to compensate for part of the cost of maintaining a breeding herd, maintaining the genetic potential of the fish and its growth rate.
Earlier, Izvestia wrote that Russian scientists have created the first domestic system to improve water quality in aquaculture farms. Its use reduces the risk of infections on fish farms, which means that producers do not need to use an antibiotic.
