Experts have calculated the price difference between right- and left-hand drive cars
Right-hand drive cars are often more affordable than similar offers with left-hand drive. The largest difference in the average price with left-hand drive versions among used cars aged 4-6 years in Russia was recorded for Suzuki Jimny, which is 38.9%. Avito Auto experts told Izvestia about this on October 13.
So, if a right-hand drive Suzuki Jimny costs an average of 1.9 million rubles, then a left-hand drive modification of the same car will cost 2.63 million rubles. In second place in the rating is the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado with a difference of 23.3% — a right—hand drive SUV costs 4.5 million rubles, and a right-hand drive costs 5.55 million rubles.
The third position went to the Mazda CX-5 crossover — 2.35 million rubles for the right-hand drive and 2.75 million rubles for the left-hand drive (the difference is 17%).
Experts noted that some European cars aged 7-9 years old with right-hand drive are a quarter cheaper than their left-hand drive counterparts. These include the BMW 3 series (1.8 million rubles versus 2.25 million rubles) and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class (2 million rubles versus 2.5 million rubles).
Earlier in the day, it was reported that two Toyota models, the Corolla and Mark II, became the most in—demand right-hand drive cars with mileage in Russia in the third quarter of this year. In June–September, compared with the same period last year, the average price of a right-hand drive car in the Russian Federation decreased slightly (by 1.7%; to 590 thousand rubles).
Prior to that, on September 23, the Russian Interior Ministry said that the ministry was not putting forward or supporting initiatives to impose additional burdens on right-hand drive vehicles such as import restrictions and phased replacement of such vehicles, as well as changes to the recycling plan.
