Moscow is ready to help establish peace in the Gaza Strip if the participants of the Sharm el-Sheikh summit, dedicated to the implementation of the peace plan of US President Donald Trump, consider it necessary to involve Russia. This was announced on October 13 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"If the direct participants of this summit (in Sharm el-Sheikh. — Ed.) and those who will deal with this issue of the implementation of the Trump plan after this summit will consider that Russia can be useful. I assure you, we will not refuse," he said at a meeting with Arab journalists.

However, Lavrov stressed that Russia would not "impose its services" in the absence of an invitation. The Minister also wished success to the summit so that the Palestinian people could "breathe freely."

Earlier in the day, it became known that the first group of seven Israeli hostages released by the Palestinian Hamas movement had been handed over to the IDF in the Gaza Strip. It was noted that upon their return to Israel, all of them will undergo a medical examination. It was later reported that Hamas had released a second group of 13 hostages, who had been handed over to the Red Cross. In addition, buses carrying released prisoners arrived in the Palestinian city of Ramallah.

US President Donald Trump called October 13 a great day in connection with the end of the conflict in the Gaza Strip and the release of Israeli hostages by the Hamas movement. He also stressed that the war between Israel and Hamas is over. According to him, representatives of the Palestinian movement will implement the disarmament plan.

On October 9, Israel and Hamas signed an agreement on a cease-fire and the release of hostages after indirect talks in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. According to the agreement, the fighting will cease, Israel will partially withdraw from Gaza, and Hamas will release all remaining hostages in exchange for prisoners held in Israel. The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip entered into force on October 10 at 12:00 Moscow time.
