An explosion at the Accurate Energy Systems explosives manufacturing plant in Tennessee killed 16 people. This was announced on October 11 by Humphries County Sheriff Chris Davis.
"We were unable to find any survivors," the Associated Press (AP) quoted the sheriff as saying.
According to the agency, the victims' families have already been notified of the incident. Many of them came to the memorial service in the chapel to honor the memory of the dead. It is specified that at the moment the cause of the explosion is unknown. Investigators are examining the burnt-out building in search of possible clues.
Earlier in the day, AP reported an explosion at a military explosives manufacturing plant in the United States. The plant produced shaped charges used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). It was noted that the company produced various types of weapons, including shaped charges of the M2A4 model. Later, rescuers reported that they had not found a single living person when investigating the explosion site.
