Russia and China to expand cooperation in waste management
Russia and China will expand cooperation in the field of waste management: the countries will share their experience and technologies in this field. This was reported to Izvestia by the Russian Environmental Operator (REO) on October 11.
REO specialists and Denis Butsaev, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, held a working meeting with representatives of the Chinese company CIECC Overseas Consulting Co.,Ltd. The Chinese representatives noted the positive changes in the Russian waste management industry and expressed their readiness for investment cooperation and technology exchange.
"We see the interest of foreign companies in the Russian market and we are ready to share our recycling technologies. REO experts believe that the circular economy is becoming increasingly attractive to investors, including in the international market," the REO emphasized.
The meeting discussed the possible exchange of technologies in the field of waste disposal, as well as the possibility of the Chinese side's participation in investment projects in Russia. CIECC Overseas Consulting Co.,Ltd. is managed by the State Committee for Supervision and Management of State Assets of China and implements large–scale infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, the Bird's Nest Stadium and the West–East gas pipeline. In addition, the company has experience in projects for the sorting and energy disposal of municipal solid waste in China.
Earlier, on October 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that relations between Russia and China are at an unprecedented high level. He expressed confidence that the further implementation of the agreements reached between the two countries will strengthen bilateral partnership and strategic cooperation, as well as create conditions for the implementation of large-scale joint projects.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on September 26 that Putin's visit to China had given a new impetus to strengthening bilateral ties. He added that the driving force of the Russian-Chinese partnership is the regular meetings and contacts between the leaders of the two countries.
