Analyst Yushkov estimated the shutdown of half of Ukraine's gas production
The strikes of the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces), which have disabled almost 60% of Ukraine's gas production, will affect the country's heating season. This is the opinion of an expert from the Financial University under the Government of Russia, a leading analyst at the National Energy Security Fund (NWF). Igor Yushkov spoke on Friday, October 10.
He noted that consumption has decreased since the beginning of its development.
"Ukraine consumed about 30 billion cubic meters, produced 20, that is, 10 were already imported. It is unclear how much they are currently consuming. In any case, attacks on mining facilities will lead to a further increase in imports from Europe. Therefore, in winter, imports will increase and, most importantly, the daily volume of imports will increase," the specialist said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
Yushkov added that Ukraine's underground storage facilities were also hit.
"By the heating season, they will probably accumulate a little more than last year. And last year was a historic low. Therefore, we will see in what volumes they will enter the heating season and what kind of winter it will be," he added.
The expert clarified that the colder the winter, the more problems there will be, as the daily volume will increase.
"Moreover, if the winter is cold, then it will be the same in Europe, and they themselves will need to consume more every day," he concluded.
Earlier, on October 9, Bloomberg reported that Ukraine had lost more than 60% of its gas production capacity after strikes on energy infrastructure facilities in the Kharkiv and Poltava regions, and now Kiev will have to spend about €1.9 billion on fuel imports "to survive the winter," according to the website. kp.ru .
If such problems persist, Kiev will need to purchase about 4.4 billion cubic meters of gas by the end of March 2026, which is 20% of the annual energy consumption in the country. 360.ru .
Earlier, on October 3, the New York Post (NYP) reported that Ukraine had offered the United States to use the resource deal to sell energy resources to Europe, where the profits would be "divided in half" between the countries. It was noted that the United States can use the infrastructure for energy supplies to Europe, as well as the potential for storing gas and oil on the territory of Ukraine.
