Energy will play a key role in U.S. efforts to end the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by the US Secretary of Commerce Howard Latnik on October 9 during a meeting of the Cabinet of the US administration, the broadcast of which was published on the White House Youtube channel.

"We have one more question that I know you [US President Donald Trump] want to complete, related to Russia and Ukraine. Energy will play a key role in it," Latnik said.

He added that in recent weeks, active negotiations have been held with representatives of Russia and Ukraine, where ways to solve the problem of loss of external power supply at the NPP were discussed.
