Competitors are not close to Russia in the matter of gas reserves. Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Management Board and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gazprom, announced this on October 9 at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum (SPIGF-2025).

"What is Russia's role? Important! And why is it important? If we are talking about gas, in general, there are no competitors close to us," he said, according to TASS.

According to Miller, Gazprom currently "produces the most gas" and "has the most gas reserves." The head of the company noted that gas reserves in the Russian Arctic amount to 87 trillion cubic meters. In his opinion, the role of the Russian Federation lies precisely in gas production at new fields.

Miller also stressed that Russia has "enough gas reserves to develop this industry for several centuries to come." In addition, the global oil and gas companies' abandonment of traditional fuels has become "chasing two birds with one stone," the deputy chairman concluded.

On June 26, the European statistical agency Eurostat reported that Russia ranks second in the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Europe in the first quarter of 2025. The Russian Federation also took the third place in terms of natural gas supplies in a gaseous state, with an indicator of 11.1%.
