Members of the European Parliament (EP) have called on the authorities of the European Union (EU) to allow Ukraine to strike targets in Russia with Western weapons without restrictions. The relevant resolution was published on the EP's website on October 9.

European parliamentarians believe that Kiev needs to immediately send additional military assistance, as well as participate in joint purchases of additional weapons. This is especially true for ammunition for air defense systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

"[The EP] calls for lifting restrictions on the use of Western weapons supplied to Ukraine against military targets in Russia," the deputies said.

American leader Donald Trump, during a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on September 26, announced the possible lifting of restrictions on strikes deep into the Russian Federation with US weapons for Ukraine. According to the publication, the American leader has not committed himself to lifting the ban. Zelensky requested Tomahawk cruise missiles from the American leader during the negotiations.

Later, on October 6, Trump announced that he had actually made a decision to supply Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles, but did not explain what it was. He clarified that he would like to know the purpose of using weapons. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on September 29 urged not to consider missiles a panacea for the Ukrainian army. In his opinion, the weapons will not be able to change the course of the special military operation for the Ukrainian side.
