The media reported on the inspection of Pentagon staff due to statements about Kirk
The Pentagon has investigated nearly three hundred of its employees for criticism in comments that appeared after the assassination of activist Charlie Kirk. This was reported on October 8 by The Washington Post (WP).
"A large—scale ongoing investigation, which has so far resulted in a small number of disciplinary measures," the publication says.
According to the publication, many American officials are concerned about the order of the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, to check military personnel. In their opinion, this check was caused by the need to stifle criticism of a "prominent figure" who "fervently supported" US President Donald Trump.
The Daily Mail newspaper, citing sources, reported on September 30 that Pete Hegseth feared for his safety after Kirk's murder. The interlocutors of the publication claim that in recent weeks Hegseth often swore at employees, staged angry tirades and paid great attention to personal safety issues.
