- About 1.2 million gas stoves have been tested in Moscow since the beginning of the year
Since the beginning of 2025, experts in Moscow have tested about 1.2 million gas stoves, which is about 67% of their total number in the capital's housing stock. When violations are detected, gas workers eliminate threats and make recommendations for repairs. This was announced on Wednesday, October 8, by the Deputy Mayor of the capital for Housing and Communal Services and landscaping, Peter Biryukov.
He stressed that the safety of gas equipment is under constant control — scheduled maintenance is carried out annually, and apartment owners or tenants are responsible for its serviceability, Moscow 24 writes.
Biryukov recalled that the service life of a gas stove is 10-12 years, after which replacement is required, as the equipment loses reliability. He also noted that modern stoves should be equipped with a "gas control" system that automatically cuts off the gas supply when the flame is extinguished, the Moscow City News agency reports.
