An investigation has been launched in Alanya, Turkey, after the death of a tourist from Russia

In the Turkish resort town of Alanya, a 55-year-old Russian tourist died after swimming in the sea, law enforcement officers launched an investigation, the Antalya Hakkinda newspaper reported on October 7.

The incident occurred on Monday, October 6, at noon in the Injekum area. It is noted that the Russians were swimming in the sea near the shore of their hotel. After swimming for some time, the tourist began to flounder for some unknown reason. The surrounding citizens rushed to help and pulled the man out of the water.

"A local resident, swimming in the specified area, saw a man in a diving mask, motionless on the surface. He surfaced from the water and reported the incident to the 112 emergency service," the media writes.

Medical teams headed to the scene. The victim received first aid and was immediately taken to the hospital.

"Despite all the measures taken, the man died. The tourist's body was taken to the morgue for autopsy. An investigation has been launched," the media clarifies.

Prior to that, on October 6, the Russian diplomatic mission in Madagascar reported that a group of Russian tourists who sought help from the Russian Embassy on the island had successfully left the republic. Demonstrations with confrontation with law enforcement forces are taking place in the capital of the state. The embassy noted that there was no information about the injured Russians. It was clarified that only one group of tourists had applied, which had already left the country.
