Lipetsk has completed the investigation of the criminal case of falling trees on the townspeople

In Lipetsk, the investigation of the criminal case on the death of a pensioner when a tree fell, as well as two more similar cases, as a result of which a married couple and a child were injured, has been completed. This is reported by the regional SU of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

The person involved in the case is the former head of the department of the municipal institution "Office of the Chief inspector of the city of Lipetsk." The investigation believes that she had information about the emergency condition of the trees, but contrary to her job description, she did not take any action to demolish them from December 2022 to May 2024.

"Due to the improper performance of the accused's professional duties, trees fell on the territory of the city of Lipetsk, as a result of which four of its residents were injured," the Investigative Committee said in a statement.

According to GOROD48, the first incident in question occurred on October 8, 2023 on Vermisheva Street. As a result of the fall of a dead poplar tree, a 10-year-old girl was injured, her health was slightly damaged.

On November 13 of the same year, a 71-year-old man was crushed by a birch tree near a house on 9th microdistrict Street. The pensioner died from a combined injury. At the same time, as it turned out, the fallen tree had previously been recognized as an emergency.

And the last episode of the criminal case under investigation occurred on May 3, 2024 on Gorky Street. A maple tree fell on a married couple in the courtyard of an apartment building, damaging their car as well. The health of a 71-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman suffered moderate damage.

The investigation of the criminal case under Parts 1 and 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Negligence" has been completed. The investigators submitted the materials to the prosecutor's office for approval of the indictment, after which they will be sent to the court for consideration on the merits.
