Moscow told about patriotic events in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory

Muscovites who joined the International Volunteer Corps for the 80th Anniversary of Victory have participated in 500 patriotic events since the beginning of the year, said Natalia Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of the capital. These include festive events in honor of May 9th, commemorative events dedicated to June 22nd, and many others.

"More than 14,000 Muscovites have already joined the 80th Anniversary of Victory Volunteer corps. They became indispensable assistants in organizing and conducting events: they accompanied veterans, coordinated guests, conducted master classes and historical quizzes. The recruitment process continues," Natalia Sergunina noted.

A significant part of the events took place in May. Volunteers presented St. George's ribbons to Muscovites and tourists at 25 sites in the capital, and in a number of Moscow parks, those who wished could sign postcards to veterans of the Great Patriotic War and soldiers of the special military operation. City assistants also handed passersby triangle letters with information about the heroes after whom the streets of Moscow are named.

In June, volunteers welcomed visitors to the immersive open-air museum dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the 1945 Victory Day Parade on Red Square. A large audience was gathered by the action "Moscow. Belorussky railway station. June 22, 1941", "Memory Line" and "Memory Watch. Eternal flame."

In addition, volunteers accompanied participants of events in honor of the anniversaries of the liberation of Leningrad from the blockade and the defeat of Nazi troops in the Battle of Stalingrad, conducted workshops and intellectual games for Defender of the Fatherland Day and other holidays and memorable dates, delivered humanitarian aid to new regions of Russia.

According to Sergunina, representatives of the volunteer movement will participate in the patriotic program related to the anniversary until the end of the year.
