Cars of South Korean brands have a reputation for being strong and reliable, but there are models with controversial technical solutions among them. This was stated by auto expert Alexander Kovalev.

According to him, the Theta II engines, which were produced from 2008 to 2018, cause the most questions. These engines turned out to be capricious: they had problems with electrical wiring, lacked hydraulic compensators, and the piston group suffered from rapid wear. At the same time, 2.0-liter and 2.4-liter modifications were particularly vulnerable.

"Therefore, when buying a Hyundai Sonata, Santa Fe or Tucson from the early 2010s, you need to be careful. The Sonata of the VI generation is considered the weakest on this list: in addition to engine problems, it had steering failures and unreliable suspension," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted the expert as saying on October 6.

On September 15, Kovalev named frankly problematic examples of Nissan cars on the Russian secondary market and singled out the third-generation Pathfinder. Before that, on September 8, the auto expert listed the problematic Mazda models on the Russian secondary market. He called the second-generation Mazda 6 sedan one of the company's most controversial projects.
