The Liberal Democratic Party proposed using cell towers to warn about UAVs

To strengthen the protection of strategic industrial facilities from drone attacks (UAVs), the LDPR party proposed introducing an intelligent early warning system for UAV attacks by installing high-resolution cameras and special microphones on cell towers capable of detecting sound and visual signs of an approaching drone. With such a proposal, State Duma deputies Ivan Sukharev and Sergey Karginov appealed to the first deputy chairman of the government Denis Manturov.

According to the authors of the initiative, this will ensure early identification of potential risks and timely adoption of necessary measures to prevent attacks, minimize damage from possible incidents and increase the overall level of public safety.

"Recently, strategically important industrial facilities in the Russian Federation have been increasingly attacked by UAVs. So, on September 24, 2025, two UAV attacks were recorded at the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat enterprise in the Republic of Bashkortostan. On September 18, 2025, a similar incident occurred at this enterprise. On February 17, 2025, a UAV attacked the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station in the Krasnodar Territory. These and other attacks demonstrate the need to strengthen security measures around strategic facilities in the oil and gas sector and show the vulnerability of industrial enterprises to the threat of drone strikes," the deputies said in a request to Denis Manturov.

In their opinion, the threat posed by UAVs is becoming increasingly important in ensuring the safety of vital infrastructure facilities. The system of their protection, based on video surveillance technologies and the analysis of large amounts of data, looks like one of the most promising, the parliamentarians are convinced. And it can be built using existing infrastructure elements, such as mobile towers.

Earlier, on October 3, drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) tried to attack an industrial facility in the Orenburg region. It is noted that there are no casualties. The technological processes at the enterprise are functioning normally.
