The first two-hour "Sports Dictation" was held all over Russia

On the morning of October 5, the first sports and educational event "Sports Dictation" was held throughout Russia, the idea of which was proposed by Olympic champion in synchronized swimming, deputy of the Moscow City Duma Maria Kiselyova. The educational event brought together about a quarter of a million participants, including all regional sports ministers and representatives of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the regional executive committees of both Russia and Belarus.

"I can definitely say that I feel inner energy and fulfillment. I am incredibly happy, because it took only nine months from the thought in my head to the implementation of a project that is scaled to the whole country. It seems to me that this is a brilliant result, and I am grateful to the Ministers of sports for the support and acceptance of this project, and for the tremendous, colossal work of the Olympic Committee," Kiselyova said.

According to her, this case is important — it not only popularizes sports, but also benefits, as Russia has something to be proud of and citizens should know the history of both their state and the history of national sports. The author of the idea of "Sports Dictation" added that people really like such a format as dictation.

Track and field athlete Yuri Borzakovsky, speaking about the content of the dictation tasks, stressed that all the questions were different in complexity. He added that everyone who came to this event worked as a team, however, despite the collective approach to this case, mistakes were still observed, which inspired the participants to immerse themselves in the history of all sports and learn something new.

The Sports Dictation was opened on the same day by Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation and Head of the Russian Olympic Committee. According to him, 800 venues were involved in the event, which will continue to expand in the future, in 2025. The minister also predicted a large increase in this action next year.
