The Moscow authorities, together with the Russian government, are launching a new project to encourage talented teachers. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

The essence of the initiative is that the names of the teachers who had the greatest impact on personal development were named by their former students — recent graduates of Moscow schools, and now students of the country's leading universities, said the mayor. "Based on the results of the survey, a list of 100 teachers was formed who were awarded city awards and cash prizes," Sobyanin wrote on his channel in the IACH.

On Teacher's Day, he named several awardees. In particular, this is Olga Lavnikevich, a chemistry teacher at the Kurchatov School. The teacher taught the children to "believe in their own strength and not be afraid of complex formulas." "For many, her lessons became the starting point in choosing a profession and proof that chemistry is not only a science, but also a path to a dream," the mayor noted.

Elena Bashkatova, a teacher of Russian language and literature at school No. 2109, was also rewarded. In addition to her love of her work, she is the organizer of the school theater and initiator of creative projects "that unite children, parents and colleagues," Sobyanin said.

The award was also given to Vladimir Stepanov, a mathematics teacher at school No. 1985. "For his students, he is not just a mentor, but a person who knows how to support in a difficult moment and explain that any problem can be solved, both in mathematics and in life," Sobyanin said.

According to the mayor, the list of talented teachers includes both young specialists and experienced teachers. "These are candidates of pedagogical sciences, authors of textbooks and manuals, winners of competitions and honorary educators of the city of Moscow," he said.
