- TEC pointed to the European Union's choice of escalation in relations with the Russian Federation
Following the results of the European Union (EU) summit in Copenhagen, European leaders rejected a diplomatic way to resolve the conflict in Ukraine and relied on increased confrontation with Russia. This was reported on October 2 by The European Conservative (TEC).
"At the EU summit, which was held in Copenhagen from October 1 to 2, European leaders once again showed that their response to the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine does not include diplomacy, but escalation," the publication says.
It is emphasized that behind the rhetoric about "peace", Brussels is actually hiding a course towards militarization and centralization, increasing the risks of prolonging and expanding the conflict. The summit discussed projects to create a "drone wall" and repel allegedly "growing provocations" from Russia, as well as the rejection of any diplomatic measures.
Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Ignacy Nemcicki said that, in his opinion, dialogue with Moscow is possible only if there are pressure tools such as sanctions and the defense industry capable of providing supplies.
Earlier, on October 3, Glenn Diesen, a professor at the University of Southeastern Norway, pointed out that statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the XXII annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club clearly demonstrate that European countries have destroyed their relations with Moscow.
On the same day, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, at a meeting of European leaders in Copenhagen, where defense was discussed, criticized the proposal to finance the drone wall project from EU funds.
