At the end of December, some pensioners will receive a January pension 7.6% higher.

Some pensioners will receive a 7.6% indexed pension for January 2026 as early as the end of December 2025. This was announced on October 4 by Yaroslav Nilov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs.

According to him, the indexation of insurance pensions will begin not from February 1, as previously planned, but from January 1.

"Pensioners who receive payments at the beginning of the month will receive an indexed pension at the end of December due to the long New Year holidays. This will also affect working pensioners," the deputy told TASS.

The New Year holidays in 2026 will last until January 11 inclusive, so payments for January will be transferred in advance to those who usually receive a pension on the first days of the month. Nilov called the postponement of the indexation date "the right decision by the government."

The insurance pension will be indexed once next year.

Earlier, on October 3, it was reported that in order to increase pension payments, it is important to monitor the accounting of work experience and contributions. In addition, experts advise checking the inclusion of periods of care for children and elderly relatives in the length of service, choosing a reliable pension fund and considering the possibility of an urgent pension payment.
