Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was surprised when US President Donald Trump supported the reaction of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas to his earlier proposed plan for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in the Gaza Strip. This was reported on October 3 by the Axios portal.

At the same time, it is noted that the group agreed to the terms of the plan only partially. The remaining details of the agreement are proposed to be discussed in the framework of negotiations. Thus, Hamas announced the release of all held Israeli hostages only if the "necessary conditions" for the exchange are created.

The group also ignored Trump's demand for the need to disarm Hamas.

Earlier in the day, Trump called on Israel to immediately stop bombing Gaza.

Hamas also confirmed its agreement to transfer control of the Gaza Strip to the Palestinian Committee. The movement also agrees to release all Israeli hostages. In this regard, the Palestinian movement intends to proceed to indirect negotiations with Israel on the exchange of hostages, which was envisaged by Trump's plan.

On September 30, Trump's full-fledged plan to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip was published. The plan for a peaceful settlement in Gaza consists of 20 points. In general terms, it consists in the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the strip and the suspension of the military operation in return for the release of the hostages being held, the restoration of infrastructure and the removal of Hamas and other groups from power in the region.
