The Lithuanian authorities have called on the country's citizens to prepare bomb shelters in case of a possible armed conflict with Russia. This was reported on September 3 by the Daily Mail.

"Lithuania has called on its citizens to start preparing bomb shelters, as fears are growing that the Baltic state may be drawn into a conflict with Russia," the article says.

According to the newspaper, in the country's capital, Vilnius, the basements of many buildings have been turned into shelters.

Earlier, on September 25, the head of the State Duma's defense committee, Andrei Kartapolov, said that European countries were preparing for the covert deployment of aviation and air defense systems on the border with the Russian Federation. In addition, the movement of aircraft from the UK and France has already been recorded. According to him, such actions take place under the guise of reports of alleged violations of Russian airspace.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on September 27 that Russia was concerned about statements by Western leaders about a possible third World war. Later, on October 2, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on relations with Western countries, said that the parties were in a state of "another form of conflict" that went beyond the cold War. According to her, the "hype" around the so-called Russian drones is being used by EU countries to justify a direct clash with Russia in the eyes of the public.
