In September 2025, the average cost of a new domestic car increased by 71 thousand rubles (+4.5% compared to August), reaching 1.66 million rubles. The last time it was at this level was exactly two years ago, in September 2023. The experts of <url> Estimates told Izvestia about this on October 6.

Analysts explained that the average cost of a new car began to rise amid a revival of customer interest after a reduction in the key rate, as well as a reduction in the share of cars produced last year in warehouses and a decrease in discounts from manufacturers. The growth is most noticeable in Russian brands.

The average cost of a Chinese car in September rose to 3.59 million rubles (+1.5% compared to August). This is also close to the price level of two years ago, but still 155 thousand rubles below the peak value, which was in March of this year.

The average price in September increased significantly for models of the domestic Solaris brand: the KRX hatchback added 3.5% (to 2.44 million rubles), and the KRS sedan — 2% (to 2.34 million rubles). In addition, the top five in terms of average cost growth were Chinese GAC GS4 (5.7%; 3.17 million rubles), Hongqi HS3 (3.7%; 3.4 million rubles) and Lixiang L7 (2%; 7.2 million rubles).

The leader in the increase in the average cost of a passenger car in August was the Samara region, where a 10% jump occurred in a month, breaking the 4 million ruble milestone. It is followed by the Republics of Adygea (9.5%; 2.29 million rubles) and Tatarstan (8%; 2.87 million rubles), as well as Novosibirsk (6%; 3.78 million rubles) and Yaroslavl (6%; 3.25 million rubles) regions. In Moscow and St. Petersburg, the average cost of a new car increased by less than 1% in September (5.25 million and 3.39 million rubles, respectively).

On October 2, it was reported that the Lada Granta family and models based on it led the Russian car market in September. In early autumn, sales totaled 11.9 thousand units, which is a quarter less than a year ago, and Granta's market share dropped below the 10% threshold.

Prior to that, on September 22, it was reported that in eight months this year, 70.8 thousand new passenger cars were imported into Russia under alternative import schemes. This is 40% less than in January – August of last year.
