Putin called the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO stupidity

The accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO is a wrong step. This was announced on October 2 by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the plenary session of the XXII annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club.

According to the President of the Russian Federation, Russia has never had problems with these countries, and their accession to the North Atlantic Alliance makes no sense.

"Regarding the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO. Well, that's stupid. After all, we had no problems with Sweden, and even more so with Finland," Putin stressed.

The Russian president also recalled that historically, all issues between Russia and Sweden were resolved after the Battle of Poltava, and with Finland after the Second World War, when all the necessary agreements were signed.
