- The statue of Trump and Epstein holding hands was returned to Capitol Hill in the United States.
A 300-cm-high statue of American President Donald Trump and financier Jeffrey Epstein holding hands has been returned to Capitol Hill in the United States. This was reported on October 2 by The Washington Post (WP).
"During the dismantling, part of the statue was broken, and Trump and Epstein's hands were no longer connected. However, on Thursday, the statue, covered in bronze paint, looked completely restored: only minor damage is visible, and the hands are clasped again," the publication says.
It is clarified that the sculpture was removed by the US National Park Service a week earlier due to non-compliance with the issued permit.
A sculpture called "Best Friends Forever" has been erected on Capitol Hill by a group of anonymous artists who are critical of the Trump administration. On behalf of unknown authors, permission for the installation was submitted by location manager in Washington, Carol Fleischer.
It is noted that the return of the statue was met with surprise and approval by locals and tourists.
"I'm just thrilled. If you can imagine something more sublime than love, look at this," said 82-year—old Melinda Winters from Knoxville, Tennessee, when she accidentally discovered the sculpture while walking.
At the same time, the woman noted the lack of work. In her opinion, the authors portrayed Trump and Epstein as "not ugly enough."
The installation of the sculpture on the National Mall in front of the Capitol became known on September 23. A plaque at the base of the work reads: "We celebrate the long-standing bond between President Donald Trump and his 'closest friend' Jeffrey Epstein."
On July 19, Trump asked the Justice Department to release all available testimony from the jury in the Epstein case. However, later, on July 23, the Florida court rejected this request, in connection with which Trump expressed his dissatisfaction on July 28. The American president was annoyed by the mistakes made by the White House in this matter.
