The list of taxi cars will be expanded with Haval and Tenet brands
The list of cars that meet the requirements of the law on taxi localization is planned to be expanded, including models under the Haval and Tenet brands, as well as cars manufactured at Kaliningrad Avtotor. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation told Izvestia about this on October 2.
The UAZ Patriot and Hunter cars are included in the list based on the fact that these models meet the requirements, the ministry said. The decision on the choice of brands and models within the list is on the side of the shipping companies, they explained.
"The law on taxi localization does not apply to car rental services with drivers. Also, the changes will not affect cars that already work in taxis. They will continue to be used until the end of their service life," the ministry stressed.
The final list of cars for taxi work will appear closer to March 1, 2026. It will also be supplemented when automakers meet the conditions for localization and special investment contracts (SPIC).
The primary list of vehicles published by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation that meet the requirements of the law on taxi localization includes Lada, UAZ, Sollers, Moskvich, Evolute and Voyah cars.
Haval cars are manufactured at a factory in the Tula region. The Chery-based Tenet models have been manufactured since August at the former Volkswagen plant in the Kaluga Region.
Earlier that day, AvtoVAZ announced that the company's production plan for 2026 and subsequent years could be adjusted to any volume required by the taxi industry, up to an additional 100-200 thousand vehicles.
