Officials in the West and Ukraine believe that Russia has improved its ballistic missiles, significantly improving the ability to bypass Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs). This was reported on October 2 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper.

According to the publication, which relies on information from former and current officials, Ukraine is increasingly intercepting Russian missiles. Russian ammunition is now bypassing American interceptors "in the last seconds."

It is noted that the Russian strikes on UAV production facilities in Ukraine have become "a vivid example of how Russia has improved its ballistic missiles in order to more effectively bypass American Patriot batteries."

FT also emphasizes that the American supply of interceptors for Kiev has slowed down. On the eve of winter, "key military installations and critical infrastructure" were destroyed. Ukraine transmits data on the operation of the complex to the Pentagon and defense companies such as Raytheon, which manufactures Patriot air defense systems, and Lockheed Martin, which creates interceptor missiles.

According to one of the interlocutors of the publication, this data is used to update systems, but they often do not keep up with the improvements made by Russia.

Ukraine has not disclosed the exact number of Patriot batteries transferred to it. It is known that it has received at least six batteries, and Norway and Germany have transferred components for at least three additional batteries in recent weeks.

On September 27, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine would receive two Patriot air defense systems from Israel. In addition, Zelensky announced Kiev's readiness for separate agreements on certain types of weapons, including long-range weapons, in addition to the current agreement with the United States. Earlier, on September 12, Zelensky and the special representative of the American leader Donald Trump, Keith Kellogg, discussed the supply of Patriot systems to Ukraine on September 11.
