From 2022 to 2025, families of four in Germany overpaid an extra €4,815 for gas and €1,149 for electricity due to rising energy prices as a result of the conflict in Ukraine. This was reported on October 1 by the Bild newspaper, citing a study by the Verivox portal.

"The conflict in Ukraine has caused an unprecedented explosion in energy prices," Verivox energy expert Torsten Stork said.

It is also noted that families of three overpaid €4,376 and €1,016 for gas and electricity. The additional expenses of people living together amounted to €2,947 and €821. At the same time, the expenses of singles increased by €1,264 and €500.

On September 22, deputy from the German Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, member of the Bundestag Committee on Economics and Energy Steffen Cotre told Izvestia that the annual losses of the German economy from sabotage on the Nord Streams amount to approximately €50 billion.
