The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine announced a power outage of the sarcophagus at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

On October 1, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP) had a power outage in the sarcophagus above the destroyed power unit.

"As a result of power surges, a new safe confinement turned out to be without power supply, which is a key facility that isolates the destroyed fourth power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and prevents the release of radioactive materials into the environment," the department's Telegram channel clarifies.
