A court in the Urals reinstated a metallurgist who had previously been fired for leaving work one or two minutes before the end of the working day. This was reported on October 1 in the Telegram channel of the courts of the Sverdlovsk region.

It is noted that a resident of Kamensk-Uralsky worked at a local metallurgical plant for more than 20 years. In May 2025, the employee was fired under clause 5, Part 1, Article 81 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation ("Repeated gross violation of labor duties"). The reason was that the man periodically left the workplace earlier by one or two minutes. The employee appealed to the court with a request to restore his violated labor rights, the judges sided with the plaintiff.

"The defendant was charged wages for forced absenteeism for the period from May 15, 2025 to September 30, 2025 in the amount of 323,679 rubles and 70 kopecks, as well as compensation for moral damage in the amount of 100,000 rubles," the press service of the courts said.

In addition, JSC Kamensk-Uralsky Metallurgical Plant must pay a state duty of 13,591 rubles and 99 kopecks to the budget of the Kamensk-Uralsky City District.

Alyona Yakovleva, PhD in Economics and Managing partner of RosCo Group of Companies, said on September 15 that when an employee is dismissed, they should be reminded of the severance pay in the application. The expert recommended that you carefully consider the calculation of the allowance — request a pay slip and compare the amount with the average earnings. If there are difficulties with receiving benefits, the specialist advises to act in stages: start with a written complaint to the employer, and if it does not help, contact the labor inspectorate or file a lawsuit.
