- The State Duma proposed to introduce a federal pension for pensioners on the Day of the Elderly
State Duma deputies from the Fair Russia – For Truth faction sent an appeal to Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova with a proposal to establish a one-time payment to pensioners over 70 years of age on the Day of the Elderly. The amount of the payment is proposed to be fixed at the level of 5 thousand rubles, reported on October 1.
"The federal payment will demonstrate attention and respect for every pensioner over the age of 70, regardless of the economic opportunities of the territories," party leader Sergei Mironov told RIA Novosti.
According to Yana Lantratova, the initiative will allow the elderly to compensate for the costs of medicines, utilities and other necessary expenses. The deputies emphasize that the single payment will become a symbol of the state's appreciation to citizens who have made a significant contribution to the development of the country.
Earlier, on September 30, Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor and Social Policy, said that there were no plans for mass federal payments for the Day of the Elderly in 2025. However, a number of regions — in the NAO, Yamal, Primorye, Yaroslavl, Ryazan and Chelyabinsk regions — have their own support measures. In Moscow, no special payments are provided, and assistance is distributed through social programs.
