The Bosphorus was blocked due to an engine failure on a ship bound for Russia.
In the Turkish Bosphorus Strait, vessel traffic in both directions was suspended due to a stalled cargo ship. This was reported on September 30 by CNN Turk TV channel with reference to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey.
The 98-meter dry cargo ship Arda, which was en route from Bandyrma to Russia, had an engine failure.
"The vessel was safely anchored in Buyukder under the coordination of our Istanbul Vessel Traffic Control Center... accompanied by a pilot and tugboats Rescue-4 and Rescue-6," the ministry said in a statement.
Earlier, on September 19, 12 people were injured in the Bosphorus Strait as a result of a collision between the Kamil Sayin ferry and the Artvin cargo ship. It was clarified that the victims were safely evacuated and taken to a medical facility.
