In the West, the transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine was considered unlikely
Ukraine is unlikely to receive BGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missiles from the United States due to the lack of necessary launch platforms. This was announced on September 29 by the publication Army Recognition.
"Tomahawk missiles would significantly expand the range and power of strikes compared to ATACMS and Storm Shadow. The problem lies in the methods of application, since Ukraine does not have standard naval launchers for Tomahawk," the publication noted.
It is also reported that Turkish Ada-type corvettes under construction for Ukraine are not equipped with vertical Mk-41 launch cells necessary for launching Tomahawk. Upgrading the ships would be a technically difficult and politically sensitive task, making missile transfers unlikely given the risks of conflict escalation.
