As a result of the shooting at the Southport Yacht Club in North Carolina, three people were killed and at least eight injured. This was reported on September 28 by the BNO News agency with reference to the city's press secretary.

"A man who started shooting on a boat opened fire on a restaurant at the Southport Yacht Club in North Carolina, as a result of which, according to local authorities, three people were killed and at least eight were injured," the material says.

It is specified that the incident began around 21:30 (19:30 Moscow time). The suspect has already been detained and is being interrogated by law enforcement officers. As indicated in the media, the attacker's target was a restaurant.

The city authorities have asked citizens to avoid the area due to the increased danger.

"There are reports of gunfire in the area of the Southport Yacht Club. <...> Avoid the area and stay at home," the authorities wrote on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
