How talent and art become an important resource of the state in building the future and strengthening social values has become one of the main topics on the agenda of the Russian Creative Week. Since 2020, it has regularly become a key platform dictating new trends and shaping strategies in the field of creative industries for years to come. The program brought together dozens of events and hundreds of speakers — leading experts from various fields: fashion, architecture and urban studies, gastronomy, cinema, music, literature and others. The results of the large—scale event can be found in the Izvestia article.

The results of the "Russian Creative Week"

The creative class today is a full—fledged partner of the state in building the future. This idea has been discussed on the sidelines of the Russian Creative Week for the past few days. It includes 16 industries — cinema, music, fashion, literature, gastronomy, IT and others, stipulated by law. The government has a specific plan for them: by 2030, 6% of the GRP of each region should be accounted for by creativity. In this sense, the Forum becomes a platform for an open dialogue between representatives of these most creative industries and the authorities that contribute to the achievement of their goals.

350 speakers took part in the forum-festival this year. 15 agreements were signed.

The central event was the plenary session "The Visionary State: a new philosophy of Intellectual and creative Leadership in Russia." There, experts noted the growing demand for traditional values, including among the youngest generations. According to a VTsIOM study, 68% of Russians put a strong family first, 33% — historical memory and continuity of generations, 30% — pride in the country.

The values that we call traditional today are so in demand in the world! These are values that are close to a huge percentage of the world's population. Probably the vast majority of the world's population. Therefore, when we create content with these values, it is so in demand and so popular in a huge number of countries," said Svetlana Balanova, CEO of the National Media Group.

In this context, Svetlana Balanova recalled the cartoon "Three Cats", which has collected more than 5 billion views in China alone.

"They wrote a lot that Katya and Lech are the heroes of our time"

About the values that life itself dictates is the Lily of the Valley project, which became not just a hit of the New Year holidays, but also a phenomenon that turned the main characters — the rich heiress Katya and the officer of the Russian army Lech — into a favorite screen couple.

According to actress Nika Zdorik, who took part in one of the sessions of the Russian Creative Week, after the premiere she received a huge number of messages from girls and women who, like her Katya, are waiting for their husbands, sons and brothers to return home today.

— They wrote a lot that Katya and Lech are the heroes of our time. I didn't expect that so much attention would fall on us! The girls started sending me messages on social media in unrealistic numbers: "Now my husband is in a war zone. Thank you for giving us hope!", "We are also waiting, my heart freezes! Please give us hope for a bright future now", "May Lech be found and survive — this is very important for us!". I tried to respond to everyone and I understand how important it is for people now — feedback, support, and to talk about this important topic that concerns our country and the whole world," Nika Zdorik shared.

The second season is on the way. Part of the filming process took place in Mariupol. And this is not the only project that has arrived there. Creative industries in the DPR have been actively developing over the past few years, Ekaterina Agranovich, a member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, said during the session "The film industry as an ecosystem — a new challenge in the strategy for the development of the creative economy of the regions."

This fits into the idea of creating the right image of the region. The Donetsk Republic is coal, industry, will, strength, and pain. We are rebuilding the region, we understand that one day it will end and the vast region must be rebuilt on peaceful tracks. And we are already working on this," she said.

The military drama "The Kid" with Gleb Kalyuzhny was also filmed there, as well as the TV series "Century" about an employee of the Russian special services who must identify recruiters in Mariupol who are preparing a terrorist attack. In addition, a film commission has been established in the DPR, a "closed cinema city" project with military locations is working, and the A.A. Khanzhonkov Mining College of Film and Television is training personnel. All this corresponds to one of the ideas announced during the event: creative industries can become a growth driver for regions, and talent anywhere in the country is the main resource. The development of cinematography in Russian cities — filming, increased film production, festivals — has a positive effect on tourist attractiveness, an increase in the number of jobs and residents' interest in the prosperity of their native places, experts noted. According to their data, more than 50% of the country's regions have chosen cinema as one of the priority areas for the development of the creative economy.

"We stopped being ashamed of ourselves and started to be proud"

The same vector is based on tradition in the field of fashion. The search for local identity as a defining trend in this industry has become another topic of discussion. It's about returning to the roots, crafts and crafts. A striking example of this is the Moscow Fashion Week, which once again demonstrates the attempts of Russian designers to explore the cultural code and rethink traditions.

Why is this relevant? Firstly, in contrast to globalism, there has been a global trend towards local production — a unique handmade design in small quantities that can only be found in a specific location. And at the same time, an amazing coincidence happened: a complex process of self-identification began in Russia, when we wanted to find out who we were, when we stopped being ashamed of ourselves and, turning to history, into the depths of our culture, we began to be proud. And this is not decorative for the sake of decorative, but a very modern design that rather shows the connection between generations and the depth of Russian culture," noted famous Russian designer Alena Akhmadullina on the sidelines of the forum.

One of the blocks was dedicated to computer games. Experts stated the need for technological sovereignty in the field of their development and noted that personnel issues and the production of domestic engines require attention.

This year, the forum-festival has expanded its geography. Now the "Russian Creative Week" is going to the cultural capital of Russia — to St. Petersburg. There, events aimed at identifying best practices and determining the vector of development of industries will continue on September 28 and 29 at the site of the State Academic Chapel.
