Coach Tarasova commented on the change of citizenship by Russian figure skaters
Honored USSR figure Skating coach Tatiana Tarasova spoke on September 26 about Russian figure skaters who changed their citizenship, noting that they are called "idiots" by traitors.
"It's not just people who are called traitors, but idiots. And if their child was looking for a use for himself <...> It's not that it's not worth condemning, but it's just ridiculous and immoral," she said in an interview with Sport24.
She believes that there is nothing wrong with changing your citizenship in order to participate in world competitions. Such athletes have been well prepared and trained since childhood, but they cannot enter world competitions because of other more capable and worthy skaters.
On September 10, Tarasova commented on the change of citizenship by Nikita Volodin, a former member of the Russian national team, who officially became a German citizen. In her opinion, his departure is not a loss for Russian sports. The coach stressed that Russian figure skaters are still strong, and there are many other talented "hothouses" in the country.
