In October, moviegoers will have to strain their memory, both historical and cinematic. However, they will be helped. Artyom Mikhalkov's film "The First on Olympus" will tell about the first gold medal won by Soviet athletes in 1952 in Helsinki, Bakura Bakuradze's film "Lermontov" will tell about the poet's last day before the fatal duel. And the fantastic "Tron: Ares", although it is dedicated to the distant future, but in order to understand the features of the universe, you will have to recall the previous films of the franchise, the most recent of which was released back in 2010. Izvestia tells about the most interesting premieres of October.

"The world is on fire"

October 2

A powerful solar flare has completely destroyed civilization in the eastern hemisphere of the Earth. In a post-apocalyptic world, the few survivors live in constant fear, and power is in the hands of numerous gangs fighting with each other for any material artifacts left over from their former lives. Jake, one of the most successful stalkers of the new world, collects art objects that once became iconic for human culture. The most difficult of his tasks is to find the original Mona Lisa in a sun—scorched Europe, however, arriving in a world where everyone is at war with everyone, he realizes that his true mission will be much more difficult...

Despite a modest budget of $ 60 million by today's standards, the creators of "World on Fire" have lovingly and carefully created a detailed and very naturalistic atmosphere of a post—apocalyptic world, the details of which you want to look at enthusiastically - whether it's the overgrown ivy clouded glass facades of buildings, a collection of orders on the chest of a tramp and looters in worn police uniforms who The main character is greeted by one of the film's best jokes: "You're not real cops, are you?" The casting didn't disappoint either: the stalker is wrestler and film actor Dave Batista, who successfully portrays pumped—up monsters in all formats of combat fiction — from "Riddick" to "Spectrum." His partner was Olga Kurylenko, the first Russian-speaking Bond girl, Daniel Craig's partner in Quantum of Mercy. Samuel L. Jackson, sitting in the middle of the apocalypse in an expensive coat and a Tseki pie hat, completes the picture.

"On a stick"

October 2

Two wild fifty—year-old friends, Carlobian and Doriano, go on a drinking trip around Venice to remember their youth, which was full of everything from large-scale theft at work to the discovery of the main mystery of the universe. A wild evening will change the life of the nerd forever.

The alcoholic dramedy could have become another Italian sitcom, but director Francesco Sossai took such a sincere tone from the very beginning that the picture turned into a social parable about harmony and generational conflict. Carlobian and Doriano are eternal teenagers who will never grow up, because they prefer not to think about any thought of changes in life, but to fill up with a couple of glasses and a few moderately obscene jokes. Julio is used to being responsible for both love and work, but in order to move forward, he lacks the intoxicating lightness and natural, unfounded self-confidence that his older comrades are endowed with in abundance. Perhaps the three of them have something to share with each other. The film was included in the "Special Look" program at Cannes and at the Toronto Festival; it makes sense to find out for what exactly.

"The first on Olympus"

October 9th

The film is based on the true biography of two—time Olympic rowing champion Yuri Tyukalov. For the boy who survived the blockade, sports became a chance to start a new life, leaving the horrors of the past behind. Coaches, like him, burned by the war, help a young man to rediscover himself and strive for a new goal. For him, sport is also a fight, and he considers winning this fight to be a matter of honor. And I'm ready to go all the way for her.

"The First on Olympus" is a classic sports drama about struggle, overcoming and well—deserved victory. Curly-haired, handsome Gleb Kalyuzhny seems too handsome for a blockade boy — but the trick is that he looks like a twin brother to the real Yuri Tyukalov in his younger years. At the same time, the biography of the famous athlete is so rich that it could become the topic of at least a TV series. Having competed at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, the first in which the USSR officially participated, he won the country's first gold, subsequently not only winning a second Olympic medal, but also becoming a six-time European champion. After finishing his sports career, Tyukalov coached the national team for a while, after which he found himself in artistic work. His bust of Peter the Great is mounted on the cruiser Peter the Great, and his embossed panel is part of the monument to the heroic defenders of Leningrad on Victory Square. It's a story worth knowing.

"Lermontov"

October 16th

The morning of July 15, 1841. Pyatigorsk, the foot of Mount Mashuk. Former classmates at the junker school Nikolai Martynov and Mikhail Lermontov are preparing for a duel. Once they were best friends, then they became fellow colleagues: Lermontov's natural sarcasm contributed to the cooling, unable to resist barbs even against his own inner circle. And now they are ready to shoot themselves to death, and although, according to historians, neither one nor the other seriously wanted the death of the enemy, the duel destroyed both lives: after Lermontov's death, Martynov spent his whole life in seclusion, repenting of his deed. Director Bakur Bakuradze tried to understand the origins of the tragedy.

Bakuradze's "Lermontov" is said to have been a creative response to Nikolai Burlyaev, who shot the film of the same name in 1986. According to Burlyaev, Lermontov's death was the result of a metaphysical confrontation between the poet-patriot of his country and forces hostile to Russia. Moreover, Martynov once studied in the same course with Dantes, and this explains a lot. Alas, Bakuradze's film version is difficult to fully recognize as successful. Russian directors don't really get stories about the death of a genius at all — "The Last Road" seems to be the most unsuccessful film by a good director Leonid Menaker. First of all, there is a lack of healthy historical detachment: the characters all speak in tragic whispers and are tormented by forebodings, even the groom. Come on, gentlemen, two centuries have passed; Lermontov, of course, is a genius, but emotions already have the right to cool down.

"Throne: Ares"

October 16th

If a couple of decades ago humanity dreamed of meeting brothers in mind in the star worlds, now it regularly meets with them in virtual universes. The Tron franchise is dedicated to one of them: programs with real human feelings live here, able to move freely between the real and virtual worlds, a dictatorship reigns and brutal gladiatorial fights take place. The inhabitants of the Tron universe are ideal soldiers, and bringing them into our world as such is only a matter of time. A program named Ares will be the first of them...

The Tron franchise has existed since 1982: it was then that the film of the same name was released, introducing humanity to virtual reality decades before its heyday. Since then, the Tron universe has been enriched by the 2010 film Tron: Legacy, one short film, an animated series, and four computer games. The slow development of the franchise was continued by Joachim Renning ("Bandits", "Maleficent: Mistress of Darkness"). Jared Leto as the Ares program man and the fame of "Tron" as a franchise that always maintains a high bar in terms of special effects promise a great spectacle.

"Gorynych"

October 23rd

Diving in a bathyscaphe to the bottom of the Baltic Sea, brave sailor Alexei Alyokhin did not expect that the sea monster would drag him into a parallel fairy-tale reality, where he would have to become a mother to the little dragon Gorynych, cure Prince Philemon of his illness, defeat the invincible strongman Bambula and protect the principality from obvious enemies and secret traitors. Well, to win the heart of the princess, where without her. The tasks are not easy, but Alyokhin is a sailor of the Russian navy to do the impossible. With the help of the dragon and his comrades, of course.

History, as you know, repeats itself twice. Recently, Alexander Petrov saved a ship from a monster in the naval horror "Kraken", and now he takes care of a baby dragon and looks no less organic. Unlike the rest of the characters, who act out the scenario with the grace of a hungover metropolitan star on a New Year's tree in a recreation center. And the good-natured but narrow-minded prince, and the strong man with the fanaticism of the Honored Artist of the republic, and the dark forces make faces with might and main and stand in the third position on every phrase, and even the beautiful princess, though she keeps more lively, does not understand sailor jokes at all, which, however, is not surprising. "Is there anyone waiting for you at home?" — "The mortgage is waiting for me!" — "Who is this, your girlfriend?" — and really, the princess can't figure it out. But parents will have a reason to laugh.
