A truck collided with a freight train in the Smolensk region
In the Smolensk region, a truck and a freight train collided on the section between Rudnya and Golynki stations. This was announced on September 26 by the press service of the Moscow Railway (MZhD).
"The truck driver drove onto a railroad crossing in front of an approaching freight train. The driver applied emergency braking, but it was not possible to avoid a collision," they wrote on the Telegram channel of the Moscow Railways.
As a result of the incident, a locomotive and 18 cars with gasoline derailed. A fire started on the spot. The driver and the assistant driver were injured, they were hospitalized with moderate injuries.
Three fire fighting trains and four recovery trains were sent to the site to eliminate the consequences of the accident. Train traffic on the site has been suspended, and an operational headquarters has been set up to coordinate the elimination of the consequences of the accident.
