Alexander Pichushkin asked for 25 years in prison instead of life imprisonment
Alexander Pichushkin, the "Bitsevsky maniac," asked for 25 years in prison instead of a life sentence while appealing the verdict to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. RIA Novosti reported this on September 26 after reviewing official court documents.
"Convicted Pichushkin <...> asks to have his sentence commuted to 25 years in prison," the case file says.
Pichushkin disagreed with the verdict, citing mitigating circumstances, including a frank confession and voluntary cooperation with the investigation. However, the Supreme Court did not grant his request.
In April, the press bureau of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) of Russia reported that Alexander Pichushkin declared his readiness to confess to 11 more murders. It is noted that these crimes are currently unsolved.
In May, the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia also refused to transfer Pichushkin from the Polar Owl special regime penal colony to Mordovia.
In August, it became known that doctors had not identified any medical obstacles to the further detention of the "Bitsevsky maniac" Alexander Pichushkin in the Polar Owl colony.
Alexander Pichushkin was born on April 9, 1974. He is known by the nicknames "Bitsevsky maniac", "killer with a chessboard". Pichushkin claimed that he sought to commit 64 murders.: one for each square of the chessboard. The investigation managed to prove 62 episodes. Pichushkin committed the largest number of crimes from 2001 to 2006. In October 2007, the court sentenced him to life imprisonment.
