Lavrov discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation with the South Sudanese Foreign Minister

On September 25, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly with South Sudanese Foreign Minister Mandya Simaya Kumba. This was announced on Friday, September 26, on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"An interested exchange of views took place on a number of topical issues on the bilateral agenda, and the main directions for further development of Russian-South Sudanese cooperation in various fields were discussed," the statement said.

It is specified that the discussions focused on deepening the political dialogue between Moscow and Juba, as well as strengthening cooperation on multilateral platforms, including at the UN.

In addition, the parties, discussing the internal political situation in the African republic, noted the need to find options for a peaceful settlement of the conflict there.

On the same day, Lavrov held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, Fuad Hussein, with whom he discussed the importance of supporting the Syrian authorities to stabilize the country.
