The Bulgarian men's national team defeated the US team in the match of the 1/4 finals of the Volleyball World Championship, which is being held in the Philippines.

The meeting ended with a score 3-2 (21:25, 19:25, 25:17, 25:22, 15:13) in favor of the Bulgarian players. In the semifinals, the Bulgarians will face the Czech Republic, and in the other match of the 1/2 finals, the national teams of Poland and Italy will play.

The Bulgarian national team has reached the semi-finals of the World Cup for the third time in its history since the introduction of the playoff format in 1978.
