Prices for used cars at dealers have decreased in Russia

Average prices for used cars at dealers in Russia, which were put up for sale in the summer of 2025, decreased by 5.7% compared to last summer, and decreased by 4.2% compared to the first quarter of this year, to 1.16 million rubles. Avito Auto experts told Izvestia about this on September 25, having studied the data on the platform.

The average prices of Geely (-6.2%), Ford (-6.1%), Mitsubishi (-5.9%), Nissan (-5.5%) and Hyundai (-4.7%) cars have decreased the most since the beginning of the year. Among the models, the Nissan X-Trail (-8.4%), Renault Logan (-7.8%), Mitsubishi Outlander (-7%), Lada Priora (-6.8%), Chevrolet Niva (-6.8%), Renault Duster (-6.7%), Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (-6.5%), Kia Ceed became noticeably more affordable (-6.5%), Volkswagen Tiguan (-5.9%) and Ford Focus (-5.8%).

During the year, cars of five brands fell in price by more than 10%: these are Geely, Renault, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Kia. The average prices of several popular models also decreased by more than 10%, including Lada Largus, Volkswagen Tiguan, Renault Duster, Mitsubishi Outlander, Hyundai Solaris, Nissan X-Trail, Kia Ceed, Renault Logan Volkswagen Polo and Kia Sportage.

Analysts noted that the dynamics of the average price depends not only on changes in the cost of a particular model, but also on changes in the market structure: the more available versions of a particular model or budget cars of a particular brand, the lower their average price. Compared to the summer of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, there is a slight increase in demand and supply for used cars from dealers (within 5%). In such circumstances, dealers are willing to lower prices for certain models in an effort to free up warehouses and increase sales, experts said.

Earlier, on September 19, it was reported that the Lada 2114 hatchback turned out to be the most popular used car in Russia in August among models priced up to 299 thousand rubles. In the price range from 300 thousand to 499 thousand rubles, Lada Granta became the most popular model. And in the group from 500 thousand to 799 thousand rubles, Hyundai Solaris turned out to be the most in demand.
