The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation denied the intention to include esports in the curriculum

The information that appeared in the media about alleged plans to include esports disciplines in the school physical education curriculum is not true, and such projects are not being developed. This was reported to Izvestia on September 25 by the Russian Ministry of Education.

"The Russian Ministry of Education did not support a bill that would allow the use of computer games in the Physical education curriculum. Such projects are not being developed," the commentary says.

They added that the agency, according to the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, is expanding the list of sports in the school physical education course, including in the form of separate modules. In particular, together with the All-Russian Federation of Digital Sports, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation is preparing a draft of a variable (optional) module of digital sports.

"The school has the right to independently decide whether or not to include it in the educational program. At the same time, the inclusion of computer games in the school curriculum is not being considered," they said.

Earlier on Thursday, information appeared on Telegram channels that computer games FIFA, Counter-Strike and Dota 2 would allegedly soon be included in the physical education program, and the experiment could begin with several tests of cities.
