Szijjarto explained his idea of changing the name of the European Commission
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told Izvestia on September 24 that he had put forward a proposal to rename the European Commission (EC) to the Ukrainian one because the EC represents the interests of Kiev, not the organization's member states.
"On many issues, we have the impression that the European Commission does not represent the interests of the EU member states, but the interests of Ukraine," he said.
The Foreign Minister drew attention to the fact that when the Ukrainian side attacked the Druzhba oil pipeline, the European Commission was protecting Ukraine, although this incident harmed the energy security of Hungary and Slovakia.
He also noted that the EC dismissed the incident. According to Szijjarto, this is a scandal.
Szijjarto announced on the same day that the European Commission urgently needs to be renamed the Ukrainian Commission. He criticized the EC's decision not to invite Hungary and Slovakia to a meeting on the planned "drone wall" on the eastern border of the European Union (EU).
