Russia and Iran have signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation on the construction of low-power nuclear power plants in Iran. This was announced on September 24 by the Rosatom State Corporation.

"The heads of delegations of the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the construction of low—power nuclear power plants in the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran," reads a statement posted on the corporation's official website.

It is noted that this document was signed at a meeting between the head of Rosatom, Sergei Likhachev, and the President of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Mohammad Eslami.
