Russia and Iran have signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation on the construction of low-power nuclear power plants in Iran. This was announced on September 24 by the Rosatom State Corporation.

"The heads of delegations of the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the construction of low—power nuclear power plants in the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran," reads a statement posted on the corporation's official website.

It is noted that this document was signed at a meeting between the head of Rosatom, Sergei Likhachev, and the President of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Mohammad Eslami. In addition, the parties discussed the implementation of current joint projects and cooperation in the field of peaceful atom.

On September 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the trade turnover between Russia and Iran increased by 11.4% in the first half of 2025. He also stressed the friendly nature of Russian-Iranian relations.
