The European "drone wall" may be ready within a year. This was announced by European Commissioner for Defense Andrius Kubilius in an interview with Euroactiv on September 24.

According to him, this system for detecting unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can be deployed in about a year. In addition, he noted that at the moment European countries do not have enough capabilities to detect drones.

"Maybe we have good means to detect fighter jets and missiles, but drones have their own specifics — they fly very low and they are very small," the politician stressed.

On September 19, Norbert Roettgen, a deputy from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), a member of the ruling coalition of Germany, announced the need to create a "wall of drones" along the entire eastern border of NATO. At the same time, Roettgen does not support the idea of fighting drones in Ukrainian airspace, as this would mean using NATO weapons outside the bloc's territory.
