Super Hero: Alexey Chadov presented a film about the Russian Iron man
Not only celebrities, but also two-meter robots are now appearing on the red carpet. It was such an iron giant who became the main character of Alexey Chadov's new film "(Not)Artificial Intelligence", as well as the star of the premiere screening in Moscow on September 23. Together with A.P.O100L, or simply "The Apostle", the film was presented by the star of the TV series "The Word of the Kid. Blood on the asphalt" and the performer of the main role in Chadov's film Leon Kemstach, Alexander Samoylenko with his little daughter and five-year-old Lyuba Druzyak. The details are in the Izvestia report.
A Russian robot with a biblical soul
Russian cinema has its own robot named Chappie, an analogue of Bumblebee from Transformers and Atom from the Hollywood action movie Living Steel, a metal giant with the biblical name "Apostol". In Alexey Chadov's new film, he gets a very real intelligence, and the characters try to figure out what to do with him.
If the rapid development of technology scares some, then Children are enthusiastic about artificial intelligence. And he even dreams of getting such an assistant in his garage. In the film, he wants to prove that the machine is capable of empathy.
— Actually, the idea doesn't belong to me. At first I was a producer and I wasn't going to shoot, but when I joined the script, I realized that I wanted to be a director," Chadov confessed to Izvestia.

The shooting lasted 35 days, each of which, according to Alexey, resembled a march with a pulse of 200 beats per minute. The picture was not without difficulties. The main one is the costume itself.
— This is a complex multi-component unit. It takes more than an hour to get in there just to put it on. And so it is every day. As far as I know, something similar was done in Christopher Nolan's Batman. Only they had more time and budget. They even built an air conditioner there. We didn't have such opportunities," the director said.
There were actually two suits. One was made of a rubber material, so the stuntmen could safely perform tricks in it without fear of damaging an expensive toy. And the second one was a ceremonial one and was intended for close-up scenes. However, the costume turned out to be so fragile that it constantly lost details during filming. Therefore, five technicians were watching him at once.
Now, the "Apostle" paraded the red carpet, posed for photographers with the actors and creators of the picture as an equal member of the team and the star of the picture.
Cinema in Russia — studying in Dubai
In the story, young freshman Zhenya, played by Leon Kemstach, mistakenly finds himself inside this experimental robot named A.P.O100L. The metal giant shows his own will and escapes from the research institute. Now, instead of studying at a university and the upcoming session, my wife has to conduct philosophical negotiations with a piece of hardware: who's in charge here, what freedom means, and how to turn off the autopilot at the box with the eyes altogether.
Leon Kemstach admitted to Izvestia that he always dreamed of playing a superhero and did not expect his wish to come true so quickly. Working on "(Non-)artificial intelligence" became a challenge for him to some extent. He says that he spent almost 80% of the film in the cockpit of a robot, which he controlled according to the plot, so many scenes were shot in close-up. It required a lot of skill and patience from the actor. But it allowed me to imagine myself as Tony Stark from Iron Man.
— I had about 25 scenes, and in almost all of them I was inside the "Apostle". The most difficult thing was to withstand the flashing lights that constantly shone into my eyes in different colors. At the end of my shift, when I returned home, I couldn't even look at my phone. My eyes just refused to perceive light," Kemstach admitted.
The stunts in the costume were performed by a stuntman. Leon had to perform another maneuver at these moments — to keep up with his studies.
— It's very difficult to combine studying and filming. But I have to ask for leave, send bundles of documents from the Ministry of Culture that I'm not lying and really play in the movies. I won't tell you the name of the university, but I study at the Faculty of Business. Management. Marketing" in Dubai,— Leon told Izvestia.
Kemstach admitted that he enrolled in a foreign university himself, and in a few years he wants to get an acting education in Russia.
— I would like to study at GITIS, because Ruzil Minekaev and Slava Kopeikin studied there. I really liked what they told me," said the actor.
Besides him, Igor Khripunov, Alexander Samoylenko with his family and little daughter Eva, Alexandra Tikhonova, Boris Kamorzin, Sergei Chirkov and five-year-old Lyuba Druzyak, the daughter of the star of the Kremlin Cadets, Sergei Druzyak, came to the secular premiere in October. The little actress not only played one of the central roles in the film, but also fearlessly rode a two-meter giant on horseback.
The film promises spectacular chases, naive conversations about the fate of humanity and a lot of funny moments. The creators assure us that this is a story about friendship and responsibility. The audience is still guessing.: Is this really about the future of technology, or is it about today, where machines are getting smarter and people continue to do stupid things?
The film is released on wide screens by NMG Film Distribution. Premiere on October 2, 2025.
