The assembly of four Changan models can be set up in Russia
Changan Company plans to launch production of four concern models at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad. This was reported on September 23 by the Chinese Cars portal, citing a source and information about the company's tenders.
So, two Changan brand crossovers can enter the assembly line of the Russian enterprise — these are CS75 Plus of the fourth generation and X5 Plus. The first one was announced to enter the Russian market in July this year, while the second one could be available under the Volga brand.
The list also includes two models of the Deepal sub-brand, which is part of Changan. This is the S07 crossover, which Italian designer Bertrand Bach worked on, as well as the G318 SUV with an angular body style (it was also shown in Russia earlier this year). Both are equipped with a hybrid power plant.
According to the publication, Avtotor has already announced the purchase of equipment for the production of Changan and Deepal models.
Earlier, on September 8, it was reported that, as stated by Alexander Kulagin, executive director of Chang'an Motors Rus LLC, the company had conducted the necessary negotiations and hoped "to see a car with a local VIN number in the foreseeable future." Relevant localization statements may follow before the end of the year, he said.
