- Onishchenko announced a moderate and predictable increase in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections in the Russian Federation
In Russia, there is a moderate and predictable increase in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections. This was stated on September 23 by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Gennady Onishchenko during a briefing "The SARS boom and flu vaccination: how can I protect myself from viruses?"
"According to the latest data, there is an increase in the country as a whole, but a moderate and predictable increase. The incidence rate is about 35 per 100 thousand of the population, but below the average annual, long-term average, which for this period is 89.9, and below the threshold is 6.6% and 37% of the baseline," Onishchenko said.
He noted that in some regions of Russia there is an excess of morbidity in the entire population. Among them are Voronezh, Izhevsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Cheboksary, Yakutia. Nevertheless, the situation is developing at the predicted levels.
In addition, Onishchenko pointed out that the incidence rate in children is lower than the incidence rate of the economically active population.
Earlier, on September 18, the Ministry of Health reported that the epidemiological situation of influenza and SARS in the country remains stable and controlled. On the eve of the 2025/26 season, comprehensive preparations were carried out: vaccination of the population against influenza was organized, and a sufficient number of vaccines were delivered to the regions in a timely manner.
