- Lukashenko pointed to the "shoals" of the government of Belarus in the development of industry
The Belarusian government should be more active in the country's industry due to problems in key sectors. This was announced on September 23 by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in a conversation with Prime Minister of the Republic Alexander Turchin.
"Before talking to you, I asked for information about the government's "shoals." GDP is 101.6 percent, but the main industries are sagging. And that surprises me: I have instructed you to deal directly with industry," the president stressed, as quoted by the BelTA news agency.
Lukashenko instructed the Prime Minister to create a group of experts at the National Bank who will analyze the economic situation.
"Nevertheless, we are lagging behind in agriculture. Let it be a fraction of a percent. But there is also a lag in industry. Industry is your question. Question number one. Organize, strain, and sell," the Belarusian president concluded.
Earlier, on September 19, Lukashenko proposed to solve the potato problem in the country militarily. In response to the statement by the head of the Grodno region, Yuri Karaev, that the potato harvest in the region was lower than in previous years, Lukashenko instructed to take a more serious approach to this issue.
